I notice the absence of and skipping of formatting of 'apps2sd' partition during install of .5

Is it desirable or necessary to have this partition?

There is no Apps2SD partition, Froyo (OS 2.2) uses the Fat32 partition your card is already formatted in and stores the data in a folder called .android_secure.

During Eclair (2.1) days, Cyanogen's team had come up with a way to use and EXT partition for apps2sd but this is not currently a valid method for Froyo (2.2).

That's what I thought, but seeing that during .5 install made me wonder what was up.

    thx
