So after a lot of poking around I finally decided that the case I wanted to try out was the Diztronic TPU case (tpu-case.com) for the Razr. My buddy has one for his X and loves it. After receiving this case I'm amazed that verizon doesn't offer these as they protect the phone reasonably well and for 9 bucks plus shipping who can go wrong.

Here are some pictures I took of the phone to display it from a few different angles

Sorry this should be in the accessories section.

With a little bit of modding of the HD Home Dock this case will work.

I really am glad I went with the mat finish. The screen side bezel of the case is shiny and a bit tacky, the other side being mat is totally smooth.

What did you do to the dock to make this fit?

I use Dramel tool to grind the small area where the case made contact with the dock. The slimmer the case the less material to grind.

I just pulled off the plastic spacer on the front of the HD Dock. (At first it felt like it was going to break but persistence paid off)
Now the RAZR fits perfectly in the HD dock with the TPU case intact.

Did you mod the HD dock or the case to get it to work?

Nope. You'll notice a piece of smoked plastic on the front of the HD Dock.
Consider it a spacer and just yank it off. It comes off in one piece and allows you to use the dock with the case.
No mods required.

I pulled the plastic spacer too but my phone wont connect w/o modding the dock.

Interesting. Mine mounts just fine with the spacer removed.
You are using a TPU case as pictured here ?

Not an Otter Box or something thicker right ?
