Hello everyone, I have a motorola droid and it has terrible battery life. I am almost positive this is from multitasking, so I am wondering if it is possible to disable multitasking to run only one app at a time. I have tried task killers and there was almost no change. Thanks

    Simply put... no.

    Try...

Don't leave GPS enabled at all times, same goes for wifi.

If you are using any apps that 'pull' information check the update frequency. Shorter intervals will use more battery.

Also you can try changing the brightness setting, and the screen timeout

Task killers wont help. As soon as you kill a task you THINK you dont need, your phone reloads it, because it wants the task in the back ground.
What kind of battery life do you have?
How do you use your phone?
What is the set up on your phone?
    Rooted?
    What ROM?
    What Kernel?
    SetCPU profiles?
    WiFi and/or gps on?
    Screen brightness?
If I use my phone normally, I can get 24-26 hours out of a charge. If I want to kill it, I can drain the battery in under 4 hours. Its all how you use it.

Thank you for the answers. I use my phone for texting and web browsing mainly. I am running froyo kangregade (sorry if mispelled) 5.09 with chevyno1's 1.25ghz low voltage kernal. My screen brightness is set to auto and I leave wifi and gps off unless they're being used. In setcpu I have 250mhz - 1.25ghz set for on demand.

    OK, good start of information.

What kind of battery life are you seeing? ie what time does it come off the charger, how's the usage during the day....

Have you tried scaling your CPU down to maybe 1.1ghz or 1ghz?

I usually take my phone off the charger around 7 am and I mainly just text, browse the web, and listen to music. So my phone sees a lot of use during the day and the battery is almost dead at 3 so I have to charge it. ill try scaling it down and see if that helps.

How long do you browse for?

How long are you listening to music?

Off the top of my head I'd say you should be getting longer definitely

I would browse the web for about 2 minutes at a time and listen to music for 10 - 20 minutes at a time. I technically should have better battery life. Would it help if I deleted unnecesary apps? Thanks

It might help. Can't see why it would hurt.

You should have better battery life. I have heavier usage than you and mine will come off the charger at 6am and at 10pm-11pm it'll still be around 50-70%

FYI I run my CPU at 1000mhz max, 250mhz min.

You can always try a standard voltage kernel, as some phones don't play well with the low voltage kernels.

or possibly try another kernel all together.

I run KeepScreen, which does the same exact thing as Screebl, so I don't think it should be an issue.
