I'm guessing one is faster?
I'm guessing one makes the processor run on a higher lower or "mediumer" voltage
Obviously, but what exactly does that do?
Lower voltage equals cooler temp and longer battery life....
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/blackdroid/31461-over-clocking-101-concert-blackdroid-roms.html A pretty good read if you were interested.
So is a low voltage kernel overclocked to 1.2ghz vs a high voltage kernel overclocked to 1.2 ghz going to run slower or equal to the high voltage one?
same speed, different voltages = more battery usage
You guys are terrible at explaining things. If you want to know how fast a kernel is ONLY look at the mhz speed. The lower the voltage, the less heat produced and the less battery drained. The only reason not EVERYONE goes for the LOWEST voltage is because some droid's need the higher voltage's to run the higher speeds.
FOR EXAMPLE, my droid runs the P3Droid 1.1ghz LV kernel perfectly and very cool. I even can run the 1.2ghz LV version which i was never able to attain that speed on Adamz or Chevy's LV kernels. But it runs a lot hotter so not worth it. I am able to run a few of the 1.3ghz kernels out there but i need them to be the high voltage ones.
So basically it's a tradeoff of speed and heat/battery consumption. Some people's droids can run the LV 1.3ghz kernels with no problems. They are lucky . Since i don't see an appreciable speed boost in anything after 1ghz, i chose 1.1ghz just so i could say i'm faster than a stock Nexus One
So there is your explanation since everyone else wasted their time making dumb comments or posting stupid pictures. Hmm, i kinda sound like a bitter old man. Sorry, i just turned 28 *cry* *cry*
Thank you for this explanation.
U da man.
You might as well buy a Cadillac and a walker now and move to Florida. Your best years are behind you old man.
