So today I tried connecting my Droid to my laptop via usb and was greeted with a message from Verizon telling me about there Mobile Brand Connect and 3G Hotspot.
Is this happening to anyone else?

I'm using the latest Froyo build.

If you are using the built in tether then that's why it's popping up.

Yeah, I've used the built in tethering before and worked perfectly fine and not to sure why its not working. The wireless tethering doesn't work either it seems.

[facepalm]LoL dude, I'm tethered right now. They've known about tethering since the community has. You can't use their stock way to tether for free.[/facepalm]

But like I've said, I have used it before. I wouldn't have made a thread about now if I wasn't able to use the stock tether since I rooted and flashed 2.2.

The bill has already came and went and there wasn't any difference but whatever I'll drop it.
I apologize to everyone for making such a pointless and stupid thread.

I used the built in USB tether and got no such error/message on my phone. Worked just fine.

Yea, USB tethering is free, so you can use the stock way.
If you want to wireless tether, you should use an app like Wireless Tether, which requires root.

Its ok bro Ive been getting the same message as well. My Wireless tether quit working but I got on there site and Downloaded the version before this one and it seemed to work. Back to the native android USB tether Its not increasing the my bill at all. Ive been using it for close to a month and a half. I did call Verizon and the person I spoke with said that tethering was not an option for the droid and that they have been cracking down on the tethering.

I bet when the 2.2 OTA finally drops for the Droid, we will find they have removed the option... heh.

Thats what I've been wondering. Beings it a native Android OS tethering app. When the OTA is official I think free tethering will be over unless some developers can figure out a way around it like the could with Win Mo.
