Thanks to the ZeusDroid team over at alldroid, the public finally has their hands on the Desire ROM for the Droid. Remember, this is an experimental build so not everything works. Read my thoughts, as well as the quote below, to find out which issues still exist, and whether or not this ROM is for you. Of course you will need a rooted Droid and SPRecovery before attempting to install this. Also, BACKUP before attempting install.

Initial thoughts:

Pros: this ROM is amazingly fast and stable. Pinch-zoom is smooth on the homescreen. Wifi + Calling works. Gmail, Email (AOL), Twitter, facebook, Flickr sync works and is very smoothly integrated. Market/application downloading seems to work fine. Phone overclocks to 950mhz by default. All weather widgets work great, including the flip clock on the main homescreen.

Cons: Returning to homescreen usually requires a few seconds to load (accompanied by a "Loading..." screen). Phone does not shut down. Bluetooth does not work. News Feed Widget does not display the news feeds. Satellite GPS does not work (you can still get directions, but no turn-by-turn voice-guided navigation). Favorite Contacts widget works, but does not display contacts with lower case first name (read more bugs below). Difficulty bringing up HTC virtual keyboard in any application (switching to stock Android keyboard works, however).
