I don't really know what much of this means, but I installed ASE (android-scripting - Project Hosting on Google Code) on my Droid and while goofing around I found I could run these two commands:

    dumpsys
    dmesg

which prints out a bunch of info. It means nothing to me, but maybe this will be useful to someone who is working on a root.

    If it's useless, I apologize.

dmesg accesses the system log file similar to the command found on a linux box.

Ive never used dumpsys but it probably dumps the system log.
