My wife's D3 did that, too. After countless factory resets and 5 or 6 refurb units, she traded it in for an Incredible 2 and that took care of the problem.

I suggest you install an app called Onavo, it will monitor all your data use and tell you how much each app used. In other words it will pinpoint the problem.

Tethering to another device, watching video on the phone - those will be the major data culprits.

Cloud storage and syncing to it constantly eats data. I just use to stock data manager to keep an eye on usage.

If it's not HD it might as well be a newspaper.
