I decided to make some Dark Edge style icons for some of the apps that weren't included in the actual theme release. I didn't like half of my icons being themed and half being stock. I apologize if someone has made some of these already but I didn't see any thread about it yet.

They are just ping files in a .zip so you can use bettercut or whatever to add them to your home screens. I embedded some in the actual program apks on my phone but that is a bit labor intensive unless somebody knows an easy way to accomplish that.

I could look into creating an icon pack apk if anyone thinks it would be useful to do so. I'm also willing to make more icons if anyone has a request for something specific. I'll keep this thread updated with any additions I make.

UPDATE 05/25/2010 - Added blue and red icons

    Icons included in package:

    Apps
    Barcode Scanner
    Blank
    Dolphin Browser HD
    Google Earth
    Games
    Goggles
    Droid Light
    MLB
    NFL
    Open Table
    Pandora
    Shazam
    Sky Maps
    Slacker
    Tasks
    Terminal
    Tools
    Wifi Tether

Here is a link to the .zip files:

    GOLD -- MEGAUPLOAD - icons.zip

    BLUE -- MEGAUPLOAD - iconsblue.zip

    RED -- MEGAUPLOAD - icons.zip (thanks BlazinCaucasian)

And here is a link to a screenshot of some of the icons I have done so far. Not the best quality image but it gives you the right idea. These icons are all for the standard gold style Dark Edge.

Cool, thanks. I'll use the Google Earth and Droid Light. All I need to do is flip them to the DE blue color,. No biggie.

Thanks. I'm just going to post mine here too rather than make another thread about it.

Edit: barcode scanner, evernote, icon_template, ip cam viewer, listen, mini golf, oi safe, rom manager, paper toss, trap, uninstaller, wordup, yz

If I make anymore I will just add them to this post.

Can I ask you what program you used to create these icons? They are great, I am just looking to convert them to blue and try some of my own.

    Thanks

Do I make icon requests here? If so, then Dolphin Browser HD. if not, then forgive me for wasting your time :)

I used Photoshop to make the icons. I started with one of the actual DE icons and just removed the program graphic from it so that I now have an authentic "blank" icon. Then I add the new program graphic to it and save it out as a new .png.

But like the other guy said, if you wanna change the color, you should be able to use any graphics program that supports .png. When I update this afternoon, i'll add the blank icon in the package so that you can save some time and use it as a template for your own if you want.

I will make a Dolphin Browser icon when I get home this afternoon.

Ok, I updated the zip to include an icon for Dolphin Browser and a blank DE icon that people can use as a template to make their own.

So how do we actually apply these icons? Do we edit the xml file included with the original DarkEdge Icon pack?

Well, you can just unzip them and place them on your sdcard. Then use a program like "BetterCut" to apply them to the shortcuts you have on your home screens.

The annoying thing about programs you download from the market is that they're placed in the data/apps folder on your phone. It's not as easy as just using metamorph or manually adding them to the program .apk. In order to do that, you need to replace the icon in the program's .apk and then "re-sign" the .apk so that android will let you reinstall it with the new icon. I've done that to a few of them on my phone but it's a bit tedious.
