Would anyone know why it is bad to NOT eject a OTG hard drive from an android phone?
What does this do to the phone and why is it bad?

    Thanks

It's not really. This is a CYA kind of thing. People are dumb. Someone is going to install on app on a drive or something, or they are going to be writing data to it and then just yank it out. Oops. You just dorrupted your data. By telling people to do this it prevents that.
