I have Google Maps (icon is a map), Car Home (icon is a steering wheel) and Google Maps Navigation (the icon is an upward arrow), I also have Google Latitude, but I know I installed this.

Are all of these duplicate services?

They are all different programs that do different things. They are integrated with each other.

Google Maps came out of the box but it included Navigation. A recent update added a separate Navigation icon.

Nope. Click on each and you'll see how they differ.
