For those of you that are not familiar the Kexec boot process allows us to circumvent a locked bootloader and pretty much install whatever we want! The process has now been made available to the Droid Razr thanks to developers "Dhacker29" "Hashcode0f" and "Therealjonpry"! The Kexec process was recently made available for the Galaxy S III which has really paved the way for lots of development on that phone. Kexec not only allows for the installation of custom kernels, but also we can now flash full AOSP roms. This means that there should soon be official support for Cyanogen and other popular roms! This should be publicly released soon, and I would imagine that it would hit Droidhive first.

Figures, this comes out a week after I couldn't handle the lack of support for the RAZR and bought a Gnex, giving the RAZR to my wife. Oh well, I am happy. It is about time and I am interested to see how the support for the RAZR is!

So is this a different form of rooting or is this just an app that is used for adding roms . I know it's a noob question but .......

it completely bypasses the locked bootloader which gives us kernel access... bascally instead of just skinning the OS with the ROM we are completely replacing the OS with a new kernel. which can change clock speeds, radio etc etc... it gives us complete access to do whatever we want.

now it's time for the bionic, if I don't update to a razr max first.

I did EXACTLY the same thing at the same time except it was a Bionic. The Gnex is incredible!!!.....except battery life as I've been spoiled by 2 days worth of moderate use with extended.

Luckily I can switch sims and still play with it.

I hope they manage to work their magic on the bionic too, we really need something to get dev's interested again.

You would think porting it to the bionic wouldn't be to much modification.
