I need help. Me and a friend have made a boot animation and rendered it as a series of .pngs we have put the .pngs that we want to play through once in part0 and the ones we want to repeat in part1 but I can't seem to get the desc.txt file to tell the droid what to do, correctly. Every time I try it I get a pure black screen for about 4 seconds. Any help? I know its something obvious or stupid I'm doing but id like to be able to make these... and have them work.

You might have the desc.txt file configured properly, but when you zip up the files, you have to use the "store" compression level. If you use compression, it is likely to give you a black screen. I use 7-zip, which is the only one I know to work. WinRAR is known to have issues, though I think it has the same or similar option.

TIP: always use either of these methods: 1) in Windows Explorer, select files to zip, right-click > 7-zip > add to archive... or 2) open 7-zip, browse to files and select, click add button. With both of these options, you will see the add to archive dialog, from which you choose the store compression level. You will notice the packed size matches the original file sizes.

I've also gotten a black screen from not placing a line break at the end of my desc.txt. A line in the file will not be processed if it doesn't have a line break afterwards, resulting in the entire animation being scrapped. For example,

    Code:
    480 288 24
    p 1 0 part0
    p 0 0 part1
If there is no line break after part1, then that line is ignored. I believe the entire animation will not play, though it's possible just not part1.

    Code:
    480 288 24
    p 1 0 part0
    s sound.mp3
In this animation, if there is no line break after the sound line, the video will play fine, but there will be no sound.

Awesome! Glad you got it working. Thanks Jellybean for helping her with the boot logo.

Any and all volunteers helping to make boot logos are welcome!

One more thing, I have it working now thanks to your help but, its jerky and slow. I've tried changing the frame rate but nothing seems to help. Any advice?

Sorry it's not higher quality. It looks obviously cropped. Do you have any higher res images? I've seen a few of these pics in ppl's sigs or on other forums, but I don't know where they come from.

EDIT: That's not the first time my attachments got lost when I submitted a post. Those "bad requests" are coming more often for me. I submit w/ attachments, "bad request." I hit back, then preview, then resubmit and they're gone. ummkay

I've added a couple of links in my sig to help you guys who already have a properly formatted BMP. That's the hard part. Generating the SBF is easy for me using Shibbey's app. You already have to install it on your own, you don't have to wait on me!

    Here you go Moose

Can you use interlaced .png files for boot animations? Or is it just individuals?

Frames must be individual PNG or JPG format. You can I think interlace individual PNGs.
