How would I go about doing this? Are there any tutorial videos or step by step instructions from going to droidmod to this new ese53? Droidmod made it extremely easy so I'm not familiar with any other methods. Any kind of help would be great. Thanks. :)

Download the nandroid of the ROM you want...

Extract the ROM on your computer and put the new unzipped file into the nandroid folder on your sdcard.

    Turn off your phone.

Hold x and the power button til the recovery screen comes up...

Choose Wipe data/factory reset and then wipe cache partition

    Choose backup/restore

Choose Advanced nandroid backup, and then select Choose backup

Pick the ROM you just downloaded and choose perform restore

    Reboot :)

Can't go wrong with Bugless Beast:
[ROM] Bugless Beast V0.7 (ESE53 Beta) Theme Patcher Available! 3/8/10
Steps in the first post but you should also spend some time here:
Start Here | Root Your Droid

Your position is the exact reason I personally do NOT recommend that method for beginners. After someone has an idea of what's going on and just wants a time saver than that's a different story (well, not really, doesn't really save much time)... but it limits users to essential knowledge of what's going on 'behind the scenes.'

KZI you beat me to the punch damnit lol. But I totally agree 100% with what your saying.
To be honest, I do love how easy DroidMod has made it to root, add busybox, flash recovery ect. ect. As you said the major problem with this is if the person using the app doesn't really know whats going on and just relies on this magic app to do everything, when something goes wrong or when they want to change something, they go on forums like this one and people have to explain what they should already know.
I'm sorry for this rant and It's not my intention to flame/troll you entraik, but switching between roms is really child's play. Ok I'll shut up now.

so my phone is rooted at the moment with droid mod... i go back to stock.. and root again with dmupdater. Then in order... I do this (for bugless beast)?

    1.) Download
    http://androidoverdrive.com/pete/ESE53/V0.7/update.zip
    http://androidoverdrive.com/pete/ESE53/V0.7/BDS-20100308-0326.rar

2.) Update.zip Installation Info & Instructions (No Data Loss):
-Do not use if coming from a 2.0.1 ROM
-Be sure to have signed into your Google account before installing
-Update (if available) all of your apps before installing
    -Download update.zip
-Place update.zip on the root of sdcard
    -Reboot into recovery
    -Install
    -Allow update.zip installation
    -Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)
    -Enjoy!

    3.) Nandroid Backup Installation Instructions:
-Update & backup any files you wish to restore, this will wipe /data
-Extract the files from the archive using WinRAR or a similar program
-Place the extracted folder (the ROM) into the "nandroid" folder on your sdcard
-Reboot into recovery mode (hold the power and "x" button at the same time)
-Wipe data/factory reset (do this twice!)
-Wipe cache partition (do this twice!)
    -Backup/Restore
    -Advanced Nandroid Restore
    -Choose backup (select the ROM)
    -Perform Restore
    -Enjoy!

You don't need to go back to stock I don't believe. I didn't anyway.Don't worry about the update.zip method. Just do the nandroid method and make sure you make a nandroid backup before doing anything.

Yes just do EXACTLY what natedaddy said. He summed it up perfectly. Also hydro I wouldn't suggest he uses that just because he would have to reflash a different recovery.

You can still use DM Updater to go back to stock if you so choose.

You have to install the OC kernel separate. Just d/l the kernel you want (Pete has a few linked to in the OP) and rename the file to "update.zip" and place it on your SD card then enter nandroid and choose "allow update" "run update" and you'll be good to go:icon_ banana: Just do a search for ESE25 kernels.

    Data restore help

I have no problem flashing ROMS with the nandroid backup but I never seem to be able to get my data back. I did an advanced nandroid restore and restored just data and boot but that just gave me boot loops. This was while flashed to ultimate droid. I would love to try Bugless Beast v.7.

I have posted this before but no one responded so I was forced to keep my 2.0.1 Smoked Glass ROM.

Thanks in advanced for your help.

I used Titanium Backup to save and restore my apps and associated data. It did not restore my browser bookmarks. I don't know how to restore those. I bet they are somewhere in my nandroid backups and I must pull them out manually.
