My DX bricked last night (not sure why but VZ gave me a new one this am) so..I'm back at 2.1, non-rooted and must start again. There are so many "how to's" going back to June '10 through today (Oct. '10) that I've lost track of step by step instructions on the correct way to update and root that aren't experimental (before-during-after the 2.2 update) and won't brick the phone again.

Can anyone point me to the easiest to understand, current methods (as of Oct. 2010) to make my DX really mine again? I have "cut and pasted" tons of explanations and now I just want help sifting through the multitude of posts to find one that a newbie like me would understand.

    Thanks!!
