Crash after update - Coincidence?

My phone did (tried?) a software update three days ago. Since then I haven't been able to call out and nobody can call me. Verizon store did an reset with no success. When I check software version it says 2.0. Should it say 2.01 if it updated? Verizon store says phone is bad and needs to be replaced. Of course, they are out of Droids!!!!

Yes, the timing is probably a coincidence, since VZW (and Motorola) would be in one hell of a jam if they bricked 800,000 phones with the 2.01 update.
