Just because a person can do something doesn't mean they should. Just because a person can, by virtue of their membership, make an exchange for 90 days at Costco, doesn't mean they should especially for no reason other than them having the ability to do so.

You are missing the point though - you are talking morality and class but every time you walk in to a Costco store there a wall size sign saying - Costco will accept any item if you are not fully satisfied with it, Costco will also refund your membership fees a 100% at any time during the membership if you are not happy!

I actually saw people return partially consumed food, six month old furniture, old pc's, even used mattresses. A 60 days old phone is the least of their worries particularly when the customer is not happy since its a delayed phone that was bug full since day one.

You are saying he has not class or morality because he follows the store policy, i think you are wrong and that warrants an apology.

+1. Agreed.

I think he's just a sore Bionic owner myself, but what do I know.

I bought my Bionic on release day, and returned it on the 89th day, activated my OG Droid for a week then got the Nexus. Abusing store policy? No. Using store policy? Yes. and I couldn't be happier. Bionic was a great phone, Nexus is an amazing phone.

- Let's say there were no RAZR, Rezound, or Nexus release. Do you think the OP would have returned it? If the OP returned it (now that he mentions that there is a dark circle), then I wouldn't call it an abuse. If he would have never returned it? yes, this is clearly an abuse.

-Just because everyone does it mean you should do it, too.

-I think this depends on if he was following the store policy or abusing the store policy.

There will always be people who abuse the store policy. Why do you think Costco had to change their 2 year return policy? Because people abuse it, they continued to change it and other members have to pay for this when the item ACTUALLY has a problem.

Costco changed their return policy because of poor business judgement, after awhile of accepting returns they realized its not sustainable so they changed it. Your forgetting people have to pay an annual fee to buy at Costco. That annual fee includes benefits like an extended return policy. Not using that benefit is like having medical insurance yet paying the doctor out of pocket. You are paying to enjoy an extended return policy and you can use as often as you like.

I own a business with 3 offices, in every office i have a Brother MFC 8680, i had to exchange one of those after 8 month of use, at the returns counter they called an electronics specialist to check. When he saw the box he said its a great device but if its acting up don't waste your time calling Brother cause their service sucks, just bring it here and get a new one. So following Costco signs and store policy is abusing it - i don't think so. If i decide i am not happy with a product i will go and exchange it for as long as i can, i am paying an annual fee for that luxury. If Costco decide they reduce the return policy on phones to 30 days or 14 days i might decide to shop elsewhere for my phones.

When they price a product they factor in returns and everything else - its called CDB - Cost of Doing Business.

I think you miss my point. That's exactly why Costco has a membership and why they had generous membership benefits. My family also owns 2 small businesses and we have Costco account for many reasons, including what you've mentioned. Your example of returning or exchanging a product because it's not doing its job? I clearly understand. You're NOT satisfied with the product because of its lack of (or other reasons) performance, I understand.

Our discussion on this board is clearly a different topic. People aren't returning the product because they're not satisfied with the product. They're returning the product because this new phone came out. I'm sure some may agree and some may disagree.

Somewhere on this amazing ball of creation!
I almost got the Bionic at Costco _to_ return... I knew better stuff was coming but I wanted a new phone. A big sign in the wireless dept says 90 days return policy... How would I be not following the policy?

On topic to the OP, make sure you have all your accessories that came with it... They won't return unless you have those.

This wants to be sent from my Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So I just got off the phone with my local Costco and the tech said his Costco does not allow the 90 day exchange on phones (if you switch devices). Is this a store by store decision or is there a written rule somewhere?

Thanks

Because their policy is the same as Verizon's on switching phones. But some find a store that will do it.
