I heard by way of rumor that there is some sort of application on my phone that I can detect all the cops in my driving area. Does anyone know if it really exists?

its called setting your cruise control to what ever the sign says!:icon_ banana:
    lol jm
But iv never heard of it since the droid doesnt have the right hardware to detect radar such as IR like some Cop Radars detect...But you asked where the "cops" where. Unless they all have Gps which they might theres no way to access that info from where ever its sent to (911 Answering place/Police Station).

Ill be the first one to say id pay up to $50 if such a thing where made.

Now it doesn't detect ALL cops. Just those people have seen and kindly uploaded their location from within the app. Also has checkpoints, common police hideouts and police cams.

First off, there's no such thing as a "cop detector". Trapster is probably the closest to what you're looking for but it's still no substitute for proper countermeasures.

IR is not radar. Totally different wavelengths.

Oh Nice, thanks. Yeah I figured it wasn't as good as it seems but I thought it was worth a shot.

Trapster sucks.. (to me anyways).. most of the posts on their are days/weeks old. An app like this seems impossible because 90% of the cops in my area use laser. Which has effectively made my $400 Valentine 1 a fancy paperweight...

The cop buddy doesn't matter. I'm not doubting its existence. The IR device is a speed enforcement device but it's not radar if it uses IR. Radar doesn't mean "any speed measuring device". It refers to a specific range of the electromagnetic spectrum (which IR does not fall into).

If it's IR laser there are countermeasures for that as well.

There are plenty of threads in this very forum with all sorts of suggestions. Are you looking for any particular types of apps?

You can pick up scatter with the V1 but it's not worth counting on. The V1 is still very useful for intercity and interstate travel.

If your that worried - dont speed. Obviously, it is not worth it. Cops move. Radar equip vehicles - move. They can get you coming and going. Radar can be in "Stand by" mode until the speeder is spotted. Then, with a flick of a switch, it is on, and you, regardless of what brand of detector you have, are caught.

The instant on or PoP is not admisable in court because there is a warmup time required.

I think you'd have to get in line after the burglars and liquor store robbers.

Yeah I've tried a few of those "Cop Detector" apps, and they are all CRAP....like someone mentioned earlier in this thread, it only shows cops that people have reported and uploaded to the app....GAY

But I love the app called PoliceStream.....have you guys tried it?? I used to listen to an identical app on my ex's iPhone and its awesome.....you can listen to police scanners from like all over the country and a few around the world....its pretty cool to listen to Brooklyn's police officers live on the scanner..

One of my fav is the ringdroid app. Lets you take any song and trim to the parts you want. There is a game called tower raider that I have trouble putting down. Another one is called voice recorder. You can make messages and use them as alarms, ringtones, or whatever. Thats just some of my favorites. I put a bunch of other crap on my phone that I have to take off. I have only had my phone for a month too. If you find any other cool ones let me know. Later.

You wanna talk about addictive games, download Shoot U! or Papa Stacker or one called Space Physics.....there all made by the same developers and they have that realistic physics sort of feel to them and there just really fun...their must have casual Android games in my opinion

    Yuk! Yuk! Yuk! Duh, here,

POP is a mode where the gun is powered up and immediately used to record speed. It has been found by the courts that unless a gun runs for 30 seconds after it's powered up it is not accurate enough to be admissible in court. Warm up time is the layman's term. Sheesh Dude!

When they use Radar you can pick it up far enough ahead unless they POP you.

So they thought they would sit there with it switched off and get a bunch of detector users but it was killed in court by too many disputes causing an investigation as to why and found the below.
One of the press quotes from the case ---
These officers did not know that POP mode was only to be used to obtain an "estimate of speed". This is why the National Highway and Traffic Safety Association and the International Association of Chief's of Police now recommend refresher courses for law enforcement personnel who operate traffic radar and laser devices.

I visit a Detector forum quite a bit and it's all there. And for you folks running Laser detectors, when it goes off just pull over. With a laser detector you gotta get lucky as in picking up fragmentation off another vehicle or the humidity and dust in the atmosphere. Unless you have a real jammer your screwed.

My Lidatek detects laser and pulses the same signals in return causing a false reading or a JTG (Jam to gun) code on the gun. JTG is not good in some states as it will tick the officer off but the Lidatek stops after 5 seconds and he gets a live reading and you will have hopefully brought her down to a legal speed by then.

I have done this MANY a time to go by the officer and see him lower the gun, pick a new target and lift it as I'm passing. Best money I ever spent.

You aint gonna get THAT on a Droid.
