contact help: last name alphabetical in group view; company name only not showing

hello all

having trouble viewing contacts (>1300) on the phone:
1. when i view my contacts by group, i can't figure out how to sort by last name (figured it out for all contacts view)
2. i have a number of contacts with a company name only that just don't show up on the phone (some do)
3. a few contacts are showing up in the wrong group (i.e. in the correct group with google contacts on line, but different group on the phone)

on the phone
-I have display options set to sort list by last name and view contact names as last name first
-i have all google contact groups set to display including "All Other Contacts"

I have been looking for a solution too and coming up empty. Are the contacts saved to google or to the phone or a combination?

Lol, I only keep about 120 contacts on my phone. I learned the hard way about putting my fb friends on my device... BAD IDEA!! 1400+... I cut that list in half now lol

started with the original palm pilot and kept adding from there
add 100 or so a year and it's not that hard to get over a thousand
not tracking facebook etc

seamless upgrades for the most part until now
i exported from palm to CSV, then imported to outlook
and sync'd with google using Gsyncit

so i'm syncing between google contacts and phone

Perhaps if you were to delete all of the contacts, and then take the origional CSV file and import that into Google Contacts Manager on your computer, and then let it automatically sync with your phone. Although I don't have nearly as many contacts as you do, I did it this way and it worked perfectly. YMMV.

Yes, mine are sorted correctly. I have mine sorted by last name but they display First Name Last Name. My business only contact also show up in the correct location.
