Connecting X to laptop via DVI?

my friend would like to use his X to connect to his laptop so he can watch his sling box. Is there any way to make this possible?

Why not just use the slingbox on his laptop? Just log on to dish and access the program.

In order for that to happen you would need a HDMI to DVI and I'm pretty sure you can't get Mini-HDMI to DVI..

Unless he had a laptop that supported HDMI and had the Mini-HDMI to HDMI, I honestly don't see that working anytime soon.
