Connecting a physical keyboard via USB.

I read a few articles about connecting a physical keyboard via USB connector. Anyone have any luck or know details about this?

I wonder if you could take a USB keyboard and a mini-USB cable, cut the ends off, and splice them together. Doubt that would work though but that'd be ghetto-ishly cool I guess.
