    Here you go.

As for backing stuff up you can either use adb shell to copy what you want to the sdcard, or you can use adb pull to get files from the droid filesystem to your pc.

If you are on windows you need to make sure you have the usb driver from either the motorola software or the android sdk.

    Z4pp,

Did you snag the USB drivers in the SDK setup when you were choosing api versions and 2.0.1 software versions?

If you put the custom bootanimation.zip into /data/local, it will still use it and you don't have to worry about the original since it will still be there...just have to delete or rename the custom one you put on there.

No. No rooting necessary...you can use adb to push the file to /data/local without root access.

Also with the black screen issue...how are you zipping the folder? The first one I did, I had a folder called bootanimation that contained the desc.txt file and a folder called part0...I then zipped the bootanimation folder to make a bootanimation.zip...I got just a blck screen like you did...then I went into the bootanimation folder and just zipped the txt file and the part0 folder, and had the zip file called bootanimation.zip, and it worked fine. So make sure you are just zipping the desc.txt and the part0 folder (and part1 if you have it).

Also, don't forget to make sure you are using the "store" compression method for your zip.
