Well - as some of you know - I have tried in vain to get a compcache kernel built and running. Building is no problem. My Droid however will not boot past the M. I am wondering if it is just my phone having an issue.

This is a BONE-STOCK kernel - absolutely untouched beyond the default sholes config - the ONLY change is to turn SWAP on. Let me know if anyone can boot it up. I have NO IDEA why this will not boot up for me, and asking other kernel devs has yielded absolutely nothing.

Also - this does not actually have compcache as part of the kernel, but the appropriate configs have been set to support.

LINK PULLED - IT IS NOT WORKING

Chevy, I hope you get the code cracked! i havnt had time to test it, although i wish i did, but the difference is incredible. 1700 plus in the quadrant on a cvcps kernel and i think i had cyanogen 6.

You are a droid god! keep it up!

To be honest I have no idea what to try - this kernel source works just fine until SWAP is turned on - absolutely no other changes. I can compile it with SWAP off and it boots fine. Change that one config and build - no love.

Nobody I have asked has any suggestions. I'll say it again - I do not know what others are building, they can't be building the same source I am (android-omap-2.6.32)

Im not sure either. Honestly, all of this is quite beyond me. You may already know, but what i can tell you is that on CM6 after install of the cvcps kernel and turning on compcache in the terminal emulator (which didnt work) i noticed that i could turn it on through a new option in the settings menu. I dont know how people do it on pretend to understand it enough.

But you are awesome, so keep it up. Whatever you put out will be awesome im sure.

No compcache love here either. cvpcs's and slayher's both work for me but I have issues with both. Here's hoping you get it figured out.

I was all set to test it but I see nobody's having luck. Who have you asked? Maybe someone else prodding them would help? I LOVE your kernels and the ONLY thing that's made me consider swapping out was compcache. But I've held on. :)

I'd be happy to make a small pest of myself to anyone on the site who might have information for ya.

P3 Droid has his RAMZSWAP as a separate module. Maybe that could be the answer?

Same as always -- broke and hoping I'll get called for some work.

Chevy -- I can report no joy on the kernel too. I just tried it and I couldn't even finish the standard time my phone spends on the M before it rebooted. I was lucky I could get into recovery. It actually rebooted on me once holding the X down!

I say let it percolate in your brain for a while, put it in 4.9 or 4.10, and cut loose 4.8! :)

I have no problems building the RAMZSWAP module ... however, CONFIG_SWAP has to be set in the kernel when it is built for RAMZSWAP to load/configure - as soon as I turn it on, it won't even post. There isn't even a logcat to see what's going wrong. I have asked sniffle and cvpcs and they didn't know.

It certainly won't be holding up 4.8 - but at the moment, my job is ;)
