Conserves battery power in situations where you don't need your apps/Widgets to poll the internet/refresh.

so when im not using the internet or making phone calls, i should turn 3g off? or if my phone is idle?

It is separate from the cell radio; it's just the data, so you can have 3G disabled and still make/receive calls. When you turn it off depends on your habits or needs. I'll turn it off while watching a movie at home, for example, or when hanging out with friends--any time I don't need to get emails, Facebook updates, or tweets, but do want to be reachable by phone if needed.

Thanks my man...

Are there any kernels you guys recommend with RC2? I had a lot of problems with certain kernels putting my phone in a boot loop on RC1.

ChevyNo1's section in ROM Manager has kernels that work well. I'm running the 1.25GHz Ultra Low Voltage without any problems.

update on the back button, turns out the entire left 1/5 of my screen went dead on me... dont think it was rom related, but i didnt drop my phone or anything so its just an odd coincidence... yay for verizon extended warranty, getting it swapped out tomorrow if they have one in stock at the local store, otherwise new one will arrive in mail on tuesday... kinda nice cuz the keyboard is falling apart on my phone anyways, and ive been forced to start using a soft keyboard, luckily swype rocks!!! not su much when a part of your touchscreen is dead tho lol.. and to think for the longest time i was bragging about my bubbled keys on my droid.. all was great until they bubbled to the point of falling off the phone :/

If you use google voice for texts, turning off 3g isn't that good.

I wish the toggle was to switch between 3G and 1x rather than 3G and NO data. There are certain areas where my battery gets killed from searching for a 3G connection, but my phone will still have a 1X connection that lets me get e-mails and do slow browsing.

Problem with RC2 using phone and contacts

I loaded CM6 RC2 early on Sat afternoon. I ran this ROM all day without a single problem. Using stock kernal running between 600 and 700 MHz I fell in love with the screen flow, Laucher2 and the ROM in general.

After about eight hours I started to use my phone to make calls and my phone started to become upstable. I made a call than when the call ended my phone locked-up. Should have went back to call log.

I rebooted let it set for about ten minutes and started to use my contact list to pull up someone to call and again it locked-up.

Help!!

Do I have something in the phone settings setup wrong? Anyone else have this problem?

I want to use this ROM on my phone - I believe it is ready for prime-time!!

Yes - I do wide cache and do have a nandroid backup.

where does rom manager put it's CM6 downloads? I've tried (unsuccessfully) to install RC2 but all it does is re-do the google apps. Then when the phone boots up again it gives me the "Update available" message from RM.

I think I might have a bad download on my phone but I can't seem to force RM to redownload it. I'm guessing I have to delete the file manually but can't FIND the file.

Edit: nevermind. I just found the "clear download cache" option from the RM menu. I always find it just after asking for help. <sigh> :)

Also, FYI, it downloads them to /sdcard/clockwork/downloads. You can search through the folders to find the files. Should be simpler now that you've cleared the cache!

I too had problems with the downloads yesterday and it resulted in a "flaky" install.

Tried it again this morning and it is working great...good enough to get it Themed :)

Here are a few Screen Caps of 928Droid Black Glass for CM6 RC2. Working great so far!
