    Unable to get into recovery

So my buddy has a problem with his phone . We can't get into reboot into recovery either by holding x and power or by Rom manager. Any suggestions? Also the market will come up but when you want to download something the market will force close. Oh yeah when we try to get into recovery the m will come up and then a phone with a white triangle with a orange exclamation point.

Sounds like your Rooted with no Custom Recovery - go into ROM Manager and select "Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery" (or something similiar) and you should be able to boot into recovery with ease

If that does not work flash the Alternate Recovery SPR then flash CW. How did you root this phone?

If he applied the most recent update from vzw, then it would have screwed up the recovery.

I believe that RM allows you to flash older version of CW. Look in All Clockwork recoveries

So I clicked older cw versions and it says no legacy recoveries found. Are you connected to the internet? We have a strong 3g signal and were able to flash spring. I am kinda at a loss. We r on version 2.5.0.7 of rom mng

The newest version of RM is v3.0.0.2 - but this should have no effect on your ability to flash CW Recovery

So I got into files and some where he screwed up and did not create a back up when he tried a rom so all this for nothing. I have to search the site and get the sbf file and figure out how to flash it so I can help him get to square one. Thanx again guys for the help

It's too bad, and I hope that you and your friend can get his phone working. What is too bad is that every single solution that has been posted in this thread is for the Motorola A855 Droid, NOT the Motorola A854 Milestone. I highly doubt that SPRecovery would work on the A854. I just wanted to point this out to you. Hopefully you can use rom manager to flash CWRecovery, but make sure it says "Motorola Milestone" and NOT "Motorola Droid".

There might be a way to fix it, but make ABSOLUTELY sure that the methods apply to the EXACT phone model. Unfortunately I don't have the answers.

I wish you luck up there at the top of the world.

I am having basically the same issue, my phone was rooted and i have RomManager on my phone, i have downloaded 2 new roms but everytime i try to install them, the phone doesnt boot into recovery, i get the triangle symbol with the exclamation mark. after reboot while holding x and get into recovery i only get 4 options.
    1. reboot system now
    2. apply sdcard:update.zip
    3.wipe cache partition
    4. wipe baseband date

I dont know what to do from here, do i need to download a zip and use the update? or is there something im missing

i read somewhere that i need to unroot the phone and use a new program to re-root, could this be true?

I'm not the best with RM

If you can verify that the rom (update.zip) is on your SD card wipe then apply.

Do you have a backup? If not, I suggest that you make one before you do anything. You may need to reboot first.
