I just recently switched over to clockwork from SPRecovery and had a question about the backup option on clockwork. Is the advanced backup option in SPRecovery the same as the clockwork nandroid backup? Will it restore it to the exact state it was left in before? Also can the nandroid backup files be used in SPRecovery or do you need to make a different backup to use? Thanks!

    No.

No, but it will restore the filesystem. The "state" includes other information that running processes have and that is NOT saved.

You can if you move them to the Clockwork directory. SPR stores them in /sdcard/nandroid. I forget where CWR does. I've had my share of hating it that I will never run it.

So if I wanted to make a backup on both, would i need to backup on say clockwork first, flash SPRecovery, then backup on there? Or is there an easier way to have both

Backup. Then either use a terminal client or adb shell:

    # cd /sdcard
[find wherever the heck clockwork put the backup and cd to there]
    # mkdir /sdcard/nandroid
    # busybox cp -Rf [the directory of the backup] /sdcard/nandroid/

Alternately... if you're short on space you can make a logical link (a second file entry) for the backup directory.

    Let's pretend it's called /sdcard/clockwork/backup/20100622

    # ln -s /sdcard/clockwork/backup/20100622 /sdcard/nandroid/20100622

That would create a duplicate directory entry but not take up the space to actually have two copies of it.

Sorry I don't know more about Clockwork. I tried it once, and it almost made me cry. I was excited to manually flash SPRecovery and get back to sanity.
