sorry to make a new thread because im sure this has been answered in the 70 pages of the v8 thread but i cant dig through it all. anyways, i want to reinstall v8 using clockwork method. i got rom manager through market and flashed clockworkmod recovery. now what? according to the instructions im supposed to put the unzipped ROM into the backup folder inside the clockworkrom folder on my sdcard. my root explorer is showing clockworkmod and doesnt have a backup folder in there. what gives?

you need to make a backup of your current rom, which you can do through rom manager, then it will make the backup folder.

then download CW nandroid and extract and put in a folder you name and put it in the backup folder in clockworkrom folder. wipe data and cache. format system and boot through Cw recovery and restore the nandroid. will give you the cleanest install possible. hear alot of people doing it and its fixed issues that going through sprecovery couldnt get rid of.

    1. How long should the flash of the clockwork recovery take? Mine got to the end of the progress bar and has been sitting there for a few minutes now. EDIT: Nevermind it finally said "successfully flashed clockworkmod recovery". Just took about 5 minutes at the end for some reason.

    2. After flashing a new ROM with this method will the apps/data remain?

Updated from DroidMod 1.0 (2.0.1 ROM) to UD8 on Friday eve. I used the Update.zip method (factory reset, clear cache etc...) and have to say it's the best thing that could be done to this phone. BIG props to BD and the team!! the only issues that I've had are sometimes it boot loops (maybe 2 or 3 times) then boots ok, and sometimes it kinda locks up and can't swype to another screen (have to reboot). using the 3d Launcher.
I'll try the clockwork restore on the next update to 8.1.1.

the clockwork method seems to be similar to nandroid, except for a couple extra formatting steps, correct? but in the future we'll be able to use ROM Manager directly to update?
    thanks!!!

Since this seems to be a "clockwork thread"...

When selecting Download ROMs I get "Error downloading the ROM list!" Any ideas?

    edit: problem solved

as it sits now after i reinstalled v8 with clockwork, when i open my ROM manager the only option i have is "flash clockworkmod recovery" like it was when i first got it. why is that? what will it do if i flash clockworkmod recovery now?
