Clearing cashe

What is the difference between clearing cashe and clearing data? I clear cashe every once in awhile but haven't ever done data. What happens when I clear that on different apps?

data will be all of your settings/info. you probably dont want to do that.

Thanks, my instincts were right. That's why I never did it before but I noticed some posts saying to clear data and cashe if memeory was low. I learn a lot just reading a bunch of threads but every once in a while I need clarification.

The posts that say to clear your data usually are in reference if you are installing a new ROM.
