Anyone here has a China smartphone? I'm thinking of getting one as a second phone. There's been lots of those being released where I am at, and the specs sound nice at the affordable price. I'm worried though about updating the phone itself and probable difficulties at rooting and using custom roms. Any ideas?

Sometimes that doesnt work out well, depending on the phone. Typcially speaking phones need to be certified by a carrier to put them on the network. Many Chinese phones do not meet that standard.

    Current Phone Model:
    Mijue M880
One to avoid MIJUE M880. I got one. It worked for about an hour and died. The pictures on it were awfull, the camera could not focus and the flash had no effect. Also be aware of fake china phones they claim to be somthing they are not and unreputable sellers. I baught mine from Gentalman company.
(http://www.aliexpress.com/store/1263218) Despite not being what I ordered and dying on me within hours of arrival they offered me a $20 refund (I paid $210.) but would not accept the phone back or send me a replacement. So much for the one year gurantee they offer. Also try and claim on warrenty and they use the excuse the fault is due to in appropriate use. All I say is be carefull, try and use a reputable company to buy the phone even if you pay a bit more for it and try and get additional protection for the phone. I baught using PayPal but the buyer gurantee does not appear to be up to much and I have not received any refund despite not being sent the phone i ordered. Thanks

    Current Phone Model:
    thl t200
I used thl w5 and now I am using thl t200.
My wife now has thl w8+

My opinion: Thl w5 was kind off slow. The mk6577 was too weak for the HD screen.
When I tried my wifes thl w8+, i really loved it. The speed and responsiveness was on par with Galaxy s3 back then but it had full hd screen, dual sim and was a bit larger.

Regarding reliability my T200 has a stripe on the edge that does not detect touch. And Chinese warranty does not work other here.
