I'm pretty sure thats it. Should be 38x38 pixels.

I'm not familiar with typhoon, though. BTW, what type of phone do you have? Everything I'm referring to is for a D1.

i uploaded the stat_notify_email.png but when u look exactly thats not the same icon as i postet on the screenshot upon!

it must be a other icon!!

i have the hd2 and gingerbread 2.3.3!

Hd2? HTC Desire 2?
And I really haven't got into gb enough to know if thats the correct file name for what your trying change. But since its the app, I.assume it is.

nope u heared right i have the HTC HD 2 aka HTC Leo. With a Gingerbread CM7 Rom and RAM-Version!

i want to change this icon. I thought that this icon must be the stat_notify_email.png and i changed the icon with my own in this files:

1. framework-res.apk
2. in the /data/app/com.google.android.gm-1.apk
3. in sd-ext/app/com.google.android.gm-1.apk

BUT when a new gmail comes still the OLD (ugly) icon appears in the statusbar. Where is this icon stored??? It makes me crazy :-(

Yes. When an app updates, it will revert back to "stock". You will loose what you have changed.

When I get to my pc, I'll take a look at your rom and gapps. Maybe there's something different. I'll let you know.

In the gmail.apk, thats the icon that shows in the status bar. How are you applying your new gmail.apk? In the gmail.apk, what drawable folder are you looking in? Drawable-hdpi or Drawable-mdpi?

i changed both! After that i installed the gmail.apk but still the old ugly icon appears. Could it be, that cyanogenmod has stored this icon in a other file??? It makes me crazy :-(

Could it be, that cyanogenmod has stored this icon in a other file? :-(

I found more in: system\app\com.google.android.gm-1.apk\res\drawable-hdpi-v9
and: system\app\com.google.android.gm-1.apk\res\drawable-mdpi-v9. I would assume your phone uses the hdpi's.

Theres also one in: system\framework\framework-res.apk\res\drawable-hdpi
