I rooted my droid a couple weeks ago (so I'm still kinda learning) and I have CM6 with REVOlution theme and I am trying to delete the SMS pop up from the /system/app folder using astro, but its telling me it's read only and won't let me. When I try using root explorer it says "successfully deleted" but then the file is still there. I've tried deleting other bloatware like amazon, and have the same issues. How can I change the files from read only or do something with them so I can delete them? This is driving me crazy because I thought you root your phone so you can do these kinds of things! Any help or input would be very much appreciated.

In root explorer, are you making sure to hit the "mount r/w" button before you delete (or rename) the files? If the button says "mount r/o" then you have done so.
