Change carrier name on lockscreen and notification bar without pulldown editor app?

Is there another way to edit carrier name (verizon wireless) without using the app pulldown editor? I only ask this because I can't seen to get my pulldown app to work like some other folks have been able to do...really hope someone can help me it's the last hack I have left to do ...got froyo,themed and root (obviously) so all that's left is this hack....
