im having the same problems and i have the same phone HTC Incredible 2. how DO you clear the cache? i do not see the keyboard or input app in the applications menu. i can insert files and send them. i just cannot enter text to anything. when i click the space, it just highlights a slight green ring, and then it just sits there mocking me. Please help a very old newbie.

keyboard app name?

im using n HTC Incredible 2 through Verizon.
no, there is no HTC ime or anything with ime in the name.
the only thing i can think of doing was i downloaded two "tank" games, played them maybe once or twice each, grew bored and deleted them.
i dont think i have anything too crazy downloaded on my phone. Angry birds, words with friends- you know safe, mass distributed stuff. Plus everything was working fine till about the time i downloaded those apps.
Is it possible that when i deleted them they "took" my text input ability?

Hmm I doubt those games messed something up. Did you wiping data and cache from clockword mod? And maybe a factory reset?

Try turning off your auto correct first.
I've read that causes issues sometimes.

Do you have an auto task killer? Try turning auto kill off and see if the proboem persists.

this is crazy

i just went to that setting, and there is no text listing under Keyboard Settings. the only select-able thing on this screen is Select Language.

the screen reads like this:

Language settings
SELECT language
English(united States)
Keyboard settings

and thats it. should i look for something on the HTC website to install?
