I've thought before that a study on internet forums would make a fascinating psychological experiment. It's amazing that no matter what the forum subject matter is, or what demographics make up the posting population, the environment inevitably degrades into poo-flinging and name calling. Teenage boys, old ladies, Satan-worshippers, whatever... It's like the Internet makes everyone crazy. lol

I tried UD10 last night, and I'm trying Cyanogen right now. That's the joy of Android; that we aren't stuck on the same, worthless OS that so many Jesus-phone owners have to deal with (whether they want to or not).

I'm definitely curious to see the findings of the "let's dissect the ROMS" game that is supposedly going to take place tonight, though. :)

Hmm. I see. Looks like maybe some of the things that are know problems with V10 have been removed from the repository. That is my guess cause some are still there.

Not trying to start anything, just a simple question that I really haven't found the answer to. From what I can tell...at least from my experience it looks as though Cyanogen is the most cutting edge rom out to date. It also appears to me from my experience that others (shall remain nameless) rebadge their rom's as their own with their names on them. Am I missing something here?? I cannot be the only one who sees this. If there is a difference that anyone has found, I honestly would love to know what it is as I am a ROM junkie. I just don't see it though.

Once again, not trying to start a thing here...just an observation and hoping someone can help out with the differences that I haven't found.

    thanks again,
    Alan

Legally that is what Cyanogen is doing as well. So if he is doing it with the Android OS original source code, why would it matter if anyone else did? And for that matter, legally he has to allow people to have access to his source code if he distributes the final product beyond his own personal usage.

I find it funny this matter has gotten along this far considering no laws have been broken.

That's not exactly the issue here. I could rant more on this topic, but it will only incite another flamewar. So check out the IRC channels or wait for an official announcement from the forum admins.

We do not have to redistribute the source. It is apache licensed, not GPL/LGPL (with the exception of the kernel).

Ah yes, someone feels offended because their "hard work" wasn't labeled as such.

I wonder did Cyanogen list everyone that worked on the Android OS source code that he built his ROM from?
