Cant Load GenieWidget

Running MIUI 0.12.3.2 and missing my Google New & Weather Widget. So per the notes posted I downloaded restore-geniewidget-update.zip to my sdcard. Renamed extension to apk but when I ran the apk via Astro the App Manager Summary comes up blank and the details state "Could not open /mnt/sdcard/restore-geniewidget-update.apk as APK file".

What am I doing wrong? Any help is appreciated. Also are there any recommended News Widgets if I cannot load the Google version?

You weren't supposed to rename anything, it's a flash-able zip file. You have to flash it via recovery...

So just download, rename to "update.zip" copy to SD card and install, install, reboot?
