Last night after a ton of reading on here, I rooted for the first time using soup or root. I found my Super User Icon and also installed busy box.

-Not sure what busy box does other than confirm root.

-I sucessfully setup setCpu profiles and applied a small overclock & underclock.

I really want to run a custom ROM, but I'm not sure of the next step.

From what I've read, I need to make a nandroid backup, and for that it seems I need SPRecovery. Which I cannot install.

I've tried the manual installation manually following:
    http://redirectingat.com/?id=1629X5...covery-frg83d-2-2-1-recovery-overwritten.html

when I tried running adb.exe it closes within a second from opening.

When I tried moving the files (flash_image) from sd card to droid using a terminal on my droid it says failed on '/sdcard/flash_image' - Cross-device link....

Please help me if you can. Thanks.

easiest method to flash a custom ROM is to:

    1) download ROM Manager from the market (premium has some nice features, I would consider it)
    2) download Titanium Backup from the Market (Pro version is SO worth the $)
    3) *refer to GLD's method below to backup apps properly
4)Download whatever ROM you want (I recommend Project Elite v4.2 but you can get whichever one you want
    5) Copy it to your sdcard
    6) Run ROM Manager
    7) Click "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" at the top (when prompted to give it superuser permissions, click "allow")
    8) Click "reboot into recovery"
    9) Click "nandroid"
    10) backup
    11) After backup completes, click "wipe data/cache" then "wipe cache" then go to "patitions menu" and then click "format boot", "format system" and press the power button once to go back to the main CW menu
    12) Click "install zip from sdcard" then "choose zip from sdcard"
    13) Find the zip file, and click it, then click to confirm you want to install it

Once it's done, back out to the main menu and click "reboot system now" and you're done with the ROM install

    * To restore your apps, finish using this method: GLD's Method For Clean ROM Install Using Titanium Backup

That should give you everything you need. Let us know how it goes!
