Okay, I'm trying to root my phone and I put the update.zip folder on the root of my card. I turned it off, then rebooted while holding power + X. It goes to a triangle with a !....

But then I can't get into the menu by holding Vol+ and Camera. Am I doing something wrong? I've tried rebooting multiple times, still nothing.

Hmmm... the directions I read said to hold them at the same time. Doing what you said--holding Vol+ and then pressing camera worked! Thank you.

Tried it with vol+ first and then camera key. No longer working. It was working when I updated 2.0 to 2.0.1 manually. Now I'm trying to root and not getting past the /!\ icon. These buttons are working fine when the operating system is loaded fully. Any one else had any troubles? Would a factory reset be required?

I was about to search through rooting threads for this when I found this thread at the top!

Vol+ first, then cam. button worked for me.

    Thank you!

No go, I don't understand how it could not be working. Pushed it a hundred times, held it down for a minute. That combo works when turning on the phone and bringing up some kind of bios screen but thats not what I need.

Blake: You're a tremendous help. I've gotten it to work before during 2.0 > 2.01 update. Mine is probably fudged somehow.

Um... that's exactly why you'd use this key combo...

I was making fun of Big Lou for being a noob once, even though now he is a coding machine!!

If you have adb installed just type "adb reboot recovery"

I was able to get it to work on my wifes phone just fine, so it must be something wrong with mine.

Blake, I got adb installed, inserted the command 'adb reboot recovery' and that takes me to the /!\ screen but I still cannot move to the next one using vol+ and camera. Suggestions?

You can reflash recovery. =) I would just install sprecovery though if I were you.

EDIT: scratch that forgot what you were trying to do. Didn't know it wasnt rooted yet..

Definitely my phone is goofed somehow. I can get a replacement for $100 through my warranty or should I wait it out for nexus two? Still a pretty kickass phone even without root.
