Hello all. I have been reading the forums for days before I tried to root and load a rom. I tried to use unrevoked3 with no success. I installed the recommended driver as instructed, and followed the directions very carefully. The problem I am having is this; when unrevoked3 is finished it reads "done" in the program, however, my phone is back at its home screen, not at the clockworkmod. I have never been to the clockworkmod screen. I do have ROM Manager installed, and have been playing with that. The only difference I notice with my phone now is the app named "Superuser Permissions." Also, when I boot up the phone by holding the power button and volume down, it says "INCREDIBLE XS SHIP S-OFF" which leads me to believe that unrevoked3 did do something. However, I cannot get to the clockworkmod. I cannot get into recovery mode, and I cannot back up anything. Sometimes when I try to boot into clockworkmod, it freezes at a black screen, or the screen flashes a bunch of stuff, goes crazy and freezes. Then, I have to removed the battery, and reboot a few times. Does anyone have any idea, or suggestions. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    :welcome: to the forum!

Check out HTC Incredible Forum to see if there's anything you can find there. :)

I do know the exploit was closed for the N1 with the latest update to the device. It's possible something similar happned on the Incredible.

Oh, and if you have SuperUser Permissions installed you should try to run a root-only app like the WiFi tethering app from my signature, just to make sure you ARE rooted.

i held power and volume down, then tried factory reset. the screen when black and froze. now im stuck. does anyone know how to bring back factory settings, and undo all the crap ive tried? i may end up going back to the verizon store and switching back to blackberry if all else fails.

Also what is htc sync? I dont see it on my phone, and i never installed it on my computer. is it something i need to worry about? what does it do?

Using a Terminal Emulator on your phone (you can find one in the market), open it and you should see a $ as a prompt. Type su and see if you get either a popup asking about permissions and/or the prompt WILL change to # if you are rooted.

    good luck

p.s. Yes, the Wireless tether that FBM linked is very much compatible with 2.2 Froyo.

Oh and just for kicks, whenever I have done some phone hacking, and get stuck, I found it's a good idea to wait and see if I can get one problem fixed before I proceed on my own and possibly create more problems. Not a dig on you, just what I've learned that works for me.

    good luck

I'm sure there's some trick to it. I'll look when I get back to my pc.

This came from my brain by way of my finger and my phone. Don't ask where any of them have been. Especially the brain.
