I've been working on rooting my phone for about a week now to no avail. I've downloaded Soup or Root, and run it about 5 times but i've yet to get the Superuser icon. Any ideas? Also i'm new to all of this so if there's a guide out there on how to root/ install roms etc it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all!

Well what do you want out of your phone? You can overclock, wifi tether, install custom roms and themes. It all depends on what you are looking for

Just make sure you make a nandroid backup before installing anything. Take your time and do some reading, you will be a pro in no time

You boot into recovery by pressing the power button while holding down x. You can make a back up from there
