This is on a DNA.

At some time in the past I had disabled the Google Play Store. Now I re-enabled it. When clicking the Play Store icon, it asks if I want to use a new or existing account. I enter my existing info. Then a message displays:

"Couldn't sign in
There was a problem communicating with Google servers.
Try again later"

This has been going on for several days now.

I've googled the problem but couldn't find a satisfactory solution.

Has anyone any suggestions?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply bk.

I went to the App Manager and the Play Store wasn't there.

I'll wait for a suggestion before i do anything else.

Good thinking Princess and DF.

Yes, the app was located under "All". (Didn't notice the column headings)

Version: 4.8.20

PS I cleared the Data, Cache was inactive. "Rebooted" but still no joy

Jeff,
Yeah, thanks.
I got miffed a while back when Verizon added some extra charges for data usage so I disabled a bunch of stuff on the phone.
In theory, I should have been able to just re-enable but you know how that goes.
Cheers!

It's possible that you still had something disabled that would've allowed you to connect to the servers. Doing a full on reset likely worked because it re-enabled everything that you disabled.

So, if you're still concerned about data, you might want to disable SOME things, but if you're unsure of what something does, it's always a good idea to leave it alone or ask around on here to find out more.

In any case, glad you're up and running again!

Google play store uses the Google play services app as the interconnect now. He may have had that disabled
