Not sure if this is the right forum area for this?

Every time I get a message with the Yahoo app, it puts a little indicator at the top-left of the screen (not sure what you call that top bar). Can you stop it from doing this?

I can't find a setting.

Thanks!

There should be a setting menu with a notification setting.

I am moving to the Pro section so that other Pro members can read and reply.

That would be the notification bar. I don't use yahoo but looked at my thunderbird and gmail accounts and on both have an email notification on or off option. You need to have the email app open, click on menu and there should be a notification check box. Make sure it is not clicked. (no green check) Don't know if yahoo is different, but just looking at the 2 I use they both have the same notification option in settings. Remember, the email application has to be open to change the setting. Good luck and if anyone uses yahoo and this is not the case I would be interested if there is something different about that email program...(just a side note, thunderbird goes right to settings after you hit menu, in gmail you have to hit menu, and then more. The settings options is there...)

Thanks guys - you inspired me to look deeper. There are TWO notification settings. One in the GENERAL section and one under your email address. No idea why they aren't both in the same place. Grrr.

Yes! The general is the phone. Each app (mail, text...) allows you to set notifications. That way you can customize and know what just arrived.

I've been having the same problem. I would uncheck the "Email notifications" option under General Settings. But whenever I would use my task killer. The settings went back to default. I thought it might be the task killer so I removed it and unchecked again. The next time I turned my phone off and then on again.... You got it, back to default.

In the meantime, I've just disabled Yahoo Email from the phone. I don't need to hear a notification every time I get a sears coupon or a Viagra spam message.

From all of my research... you shouldn't be using a task killer routinely if you have Android 2.2.

You have done a good job with your research. Bobby posted in another thread that removing the task killer resolved the issue.
