There are several apps on my Droid X that came with the phone - factory installed. Blockbuster video, City ID, Latitude to name a few. Verizon tech support told me there was no way for me to remove the factory installed apps that came with the phone so they wouldn't appear on the app screen.

I am finding that this forum in many cases knows more than Verizon so I'll ask the same question here.

    Thanks.

Yes but you'll need to root your phone. There are many threads on here about rooting, easiest is z4root(was in the market but I can't find it now) and how to remove the "Bloatware"

You can hide them by using launcher pro, it is a home screen replacement app. Or you could root and remove them from the phone, but by rooting you void your warranty. I rooted my droid 1 when I had it, it was cool to be able to theme and run different ROM's, but I always had problems that made me go back to the stock programming so YMMV.

If you root, you can freeze them with Titanium Backup...try not to delete as it could cause ya some problems when ya have to do OTA updates...

Yep! I love SystemApp Remover. Need root, though. As previously sugessted, Titanium backup pro is excellent.

    No more bloatware!

Thanks everyone for your answers. I will look at Launcher Pro to hide the apps won't use.

This forum is a great source of info.

    Have a happy day.
