I read the Droid manual and went to check out the camera settings on my phone - but they are no where the manual says. Perhaps I am missing something? Maybe I am misinterpreting the what the viewfinder is?

Google this AndroidUsersGuide.pdf and go to page 242 for the camera section.

The camera app did change with Froyo. It's possible that the manual you're referring to isn't relevant as a result.
