Buying a used phone

I am going to buy a used phone. When buying a used phone do I need to buy one with a SIM card? Will my old SIM card (droid 3) work for my new phone (Rezound)?

I think 4G phones require a different aim card. I got a used rezound yesterday without a simple card and Verizon gave me one at no charge.

Scott is correct, you need a 4g SIM card for any 4g phone.
