I'm building my own ROM on the ESE53 base, but I've run into a few issues. First, superuser.apk doesn't seem to do anything. I know I'm rooted (as in, Root Explorer and SetCPU work), but whenever something needs SU access it just happens. No popup or anything. This wouldn't be a problem, but I liked the safety net of being able to choose what got root and what didn't.

Second, tethering works if I start it from the terminal.
    / # /data/data/android.tether/bin/tether start 1
That works, starts tethering, and I can connect with my PC. Once I try to start it from the GUI, I get "Unable to start tethering. Please try again."

And third, nexusmod live wallpapers force close immediately. I know everyone was having this issue but Pete seems to have fixed it in BB 0.9 and I want to know how so I can do it on my own phone.

    Any help is appreciated.

Do you even have Superuser.apk installed?

Also, who's kernel are you using? What version of wireless tether for root users?

I have superuser.apk installed. When I open it, it's just a blank screen with "Superuser Permissions" at the top.
    I've tried both Adamz's and ChevyNo1's kernels. I'm on Chevy's 5-slot 1.0ghz right now.

Try a different version. It works fine with my kernel.

Also, when you installed Superuser.apk, you must also install the accompanying su file with it.

    Thank you!
Using those files I got su/superuser permissions working, also solved my wifi-tether problems.

All I need now is nexusmod!

I could be wrong, but I don't think that BB 0.9 is using nexusmod, but instead a modified lwp.

no, Pete's fixed it somehow. From his changelog:

Version 0.9 [3/17/10] (Note: You will see lower benchmarks! I promise I did not enable JIT...)
-Fixed issues with NexusMod Live Wallpaper
*Please leave comment in market stating it works with Bugless Beast*

just a short how-to from the dinner table

Download pete's bb0.9 update.zip. unzip and move /system/lib/libRS.so and /system/libRS_jni.so to your phone. Do the same with /system/framework/framework.jar, reboot your phone. Nexusmod should work.

Sent from my Droid at the supper table.

I think its just the framework.jar. I'm going to go out on a limb and say he grabbed it from ERE25.

It also allows for Launcher2 and variants of it such as helix launcher2 as well.
