Why do you feel the need to use metaphors ? It's not like people don't know what an iPhone or a Droid are and what are capable of . You may ass well say the iPhone is fur and Android leather , but what's the purpose in doing so ?

Haha now you want me to explain the purpose of a metaphor? I don't think I have time to teach you the nuances of the english language. Maybe someone else will volunteer?

Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk

Don't bother , I know what a metaphor is and I can create one in 5 different languages , that includes English . My point is that knowing what a metaphor is doesn't automatically qualifies you to make a one . Your example , in my view , is a pretty bad one .

k cool, i respect your opinion.

See, that's just it. I don't get why people d/l torrents and music (besides being illegal, neither here nor there) on the phone. My home broadband is 20X faster than 3G.

I don't see the great crime or woe if VZW takes action that forces people to do that from a wifi connection. I realize it seems like a ginormous inconvenience not to be able to d/l porn while you wait to checkout your groceries, but it's really not.

I know you are proving your point (very well) and I love reading it but he's just one of those guys that never stops trying to prove something to themselves so you are kind of wasting your time with the wall of text.

You are really good at it though. I could never do that (why I was average in English). Haha.

yeah i really dont see how that's possible especially if hes not tethering...makes zero sense. 10GB+ a day is impossible.

I always forget about the torrents. But seems like it should be pretty easy for VZW to throttle d/l's over, say, 25 megs. Unfortunately that would stink for someone legitimately d/ling a movie that they actually paid for. Maybe that's the whole "extraordinary AND top 5%" deal - heavy users get throttled on big d/l's.

Kodiak and Czer, I love you both like my brothers......wait is that a weird thing to say? But you guys have been going at it for like 27 years now. You 2 have kept it civil, props for that but you are not going to change eachothers opinions. Now can we drop the lengthy back and forths and go have a family reunion??? I will bring the copy of the Tooth Fairy.

My home internet (FIOS) smokes the 3g by far....and I typically do everything from my PC....but I get bored working 12 hour nights....so I DL movies to watch.

oh...and no porn for me...thanks anyway.

:/ post a screenshot of your data usage, i want proof that you've actually used 2 terabytes, thats 2,048 gigabytes, in 6 months.

2048/6 = 341 and some change a month.

Thats over 10 GB a day. You're either blatantly lying, an idiot, or a combination of both.

Sent from the F-Zero cockpit on my D2G

Est as of 02/03 06:15AM: Data Usage: 2489818.34KB.

^via the #DATA number built into my phone.

Would having two numbers in the same account (like a family plan thing) show totals for both phones? Does this include wifi? Cause I have another phone on this plan, and the user never uses wifi, either of which would make this number actually make sense. Cause I don't understand how this is totalling 2tb...

There is absolutely no need for the insults. How does that help in any way??? If you are going to post something like that find another forum to do so.

What OTR said - keep it civil and respectful, please.

No worries, we all make mistakes. We all just wondered how it's possible to use 2 terabytes.

Myself I could truly careless what is causing this. If the extraordinary data amount is truly extraordinary (6 or 7+ GB) I'll be happy considering I only use about 2-3 per month, if that.

Its simple marketing guys, if you deal with a company on a regular basis and they want to keep you as a customer they're not going to treat you like crap. It's called relationship marketing, look it up.

maybe this should be directed toward VZW?? the "policy changes" VZW has made in just the last couple of months: NE2, unlimited data plans, shorter return period, throttling data. seems to be more "anti-relationship marketing." and we're just supposed to swallow it, smile, and say "thank you sir, may i have another"...

I wasn't referring to "policy changes" meaning everything just the throttling. Is the extra money off from the NE2 really that big of a deal, me thinks not. Yea it sucks, but its not going to stop me from getting another verizon phone. As for the "unlimited" plans: they were never truly unlimited, the limit is apparently 5gb (but it doesnt seem to be enforced).

As for the data throttling, its just something they have to do. If you were in verizons shoes what would you do? Would you rather drop hundreds of thousands (or millions) of dollars to expand your infrastructure which could take months and possibly create problems on the network or would you throttle datahogs to make room for more users that use less data while not spending (nearly as much) money in the process and then eventually upgrading the infrastructure once the money comes in? There's only so much of something that can fit through a pre-defined area. Let me see you pump 1,000 gallons of water per hour through both a drinking straw and a sewer pipe in the same amount of time and then I'll believe you.

Crap happens, either you take it or you leave, thats all there is to it...

maybe i'm misinterpreting what VZW is doing, but right now it seems the message it is sending is that i will be getting less, but paying more for it (kinda like that TMo commercial).

how are you paying more? theyre not increasing your bill or anything. Stay within reasonable data limits and you probably wont notice a thing.

the closest thing you can get to fair is ios on verizon vs android on verizon (and that's still skewed for the reasons listed above). talk to me when those numbers are in. i hope you wont backtrack when it becomes clear that there is/was a pent up demand for the iphone on verizon, and that "everyone who wants an iphone" hasn't actually gotten one yet.

Look, my final comment. Globally, VZW share is a drop in the bucket, maybe 5% but possibly 10% of smartphones (VZW is 18th - EIGHTEENTH - globally in wireless share). The lack of the IPhone on VZW is not significant in the grand scheme of things.

Second, Q4 sales of Android in the US were a whopping 54% of smartphones, vs. 19% for the IPhone. To put that in perspective, the IPhone would have to double its share going to VZW, and take ALL that share from VZW Android (as opposed to BB or Symbian) and it STILL might not take the lead in the US. So the numbers are already in, we'll just watch the same scenario play out again with VZW.

What we are seeing is the IPhone being pretty much the only game in town and now its share is going to decline in direct relation with however many other premier devices are on the market, not dissimilar from PC's where the Mac has about a 10% share. It will probably still be the top-selling handset but there other dynamics at work as well, such as IOS users largely being entrenched while Android users easily float to the latest device when their upgrade arrives.
