I've been using root explorer to paste the "new" boot animation into the system/bin folder where my original boot animation is located. I turned on the ability to read/write files in the application by using the button on the top right I am now getting a different error message which is:

    Paste Failure
"The paste operation failed. Would you like to send diagnositic information to the developer to assist with fixing the problem?"

Is there another way to do this? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks everyone in advance for your help.

Do i delete the original bootanimation file that is located in the system/bin folder? If i dont then won't they conflict with each other in same way? Thanks!

No, Android checks /data/local/ first, then /system/media/
