I'm still stuck with the original droid for now, so I'm always looking for ways to upgrade it. I want to get support for Bluetooth 1.3 or above so I can have metadata streamed to my head unit in my truck.

I've found Bluez 4.95 online and downloaded it. My question is, can I simply replace the old stack with the new stack in my phone and cross my fingers, or will this even work in a mobile format?

BTW, Bluez 4.95 is a stack I found online, just released that address the issues of metadata, but I'm unsure if the author developed it for mobile, or if it matters.
