Ok I just purchased a new Mini Cooper that is able to sync with my phone. But I cannot connect the Mini to my Motorola Droid.

I am able to "Pair" but not connect. :icon_evil:

I have a friend that has a stock 2.1 droid and this phone connects with no problem.

So it has to be BB.04 froyo... or ROOT?

Does anyone have an Idea what is going on here?

Again, the phone states that the Mini Cooper is paird but not connected. The Mini stays in a "connecting" phase.... and never completes.

I love BB .04 and don't want to go back in time.

Also does Pete or anyone know if maybe the Official Froyo from Verizon will work? When it comes out... Or is it a ROOT issue?

Froyo has increased compatibility with car bluetooth interfaces over what 2.1 had. I have a 2005 BMW that my 2.1 Droid could not pair with. As soon as I updated to Froyo I was able to pair with the car Bluetooth system. Sometimes I have to pair a couple of times before it connects, but once connected it works flawlessly. Can't imagine it's an issue with root as my phone is rooted as well. Try going into Bluetooth settings on the phone and clicking the Mini under devices several times until it connects.

If its not root .. than it has to be BB0 0.4 froyo build

I have tried connecting many times.... and understand exactly what your doing

I even took it to BMW which only confirmed that there android device worked flawlessly and my Droid a no go.

Thanks for the reply... just really frustrated.

What theme, if any, are you running? I had a theme break some of my bluetooth functionality ( contacts wouldn't sync ) with my 2009 BMW. You might be able to extract the bluetooth.apk from a different rom to get it to work.

    Hmmm Ok...

I am using smoked glass theme

I'm a little Droid/Root savey. Is there simple instructions on removing a apk and reinstalling one?

(I will start doing some searching tonight on this) This is probably the best way to go... hmmmm? dancedroid

I am using 928Droid's Theme and these are the instructions he gave me to get it working... ( BTW, the issue I had has been fixed in the updated version of his theme )

    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Try going into Pete's BB 04 update zip and extracting Bluetooth.apk (located in system/app of the zip file), then use Root Explorer (or whatever) and copy it to system/app replacing the existing BlueTooth.apk. Be sure to verifiy 644 permissions and then reboot.

You can also use Astro and copy the Bluetooth.apk out of BB 04 and paste into the system/app folder of my Black Glass update.zip and reapply the update.zip

After doing this you can now see the BlueTooth share option in Contacts so I assume it will fix the other issue.

Let me know if that fixes it or not.
    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

    Hope this helps....

by the way, you can test this by backing up your current setup, re-installing a fresh copy of BB ( or restoring to a back up that doesn't have your theme applied ) and seeing if your BT works. If it doesn't than most like extracting the apk won't help.

Okay so Stock BB 0.4 (No theme) does not work.

    BUT!!!

After Installing 928Droid .... all works! WoW! Not sure what .apk this theme is using... but Pete needs to look into this.

Thanks Android Community. I am a much happier man ... especially since I just bought a $30K Mini
