this is due to the commission structure resellers get for contracts.
obviously a new contract is worth a LOT more commission than an upgrade.

Has ZERO to do with VZW.
VZW has a ton of faith in this device which is why they are still pimping the hell out of it with ads.
This pricing is related to reseller commissions. thats all.

Good luck with that. I've read stories of Best Buy shopping backfiring on customers in a bad and costly way. The Best Buy in our area is Worst Buy so I had to say goodbye.

I had an issue with failed Best Buy laptop repairs several months ago. I posted the problem on a forum. I also read other customer's posts where Best Buy price match requests went very bad, and other problems, such as disappearing phones during repairs, etc. Admittedly, I am somewhat biased against Best Buy, but customers that were treated like I had read about that had legitimate complaints were treated very poorly and unprofessionally. And that does not include how I felt that I was treated after spending $1200 for laptop and repair plan. Just sayin', that was what I was meaning.

I wish news sites wouldn't post these. All they do is get peoples hopes up and then it goes a muck.

Anytime you see these prices it's 99% new customers only. Or for the primary line.
